Home-baked Cupcakes

Today is the Teachers' Day Celebration in school. Guess what mummy made for the teachers and the kids. Yes, cupcakes.

Had initially planned to make for the teachers only [gee... cos' her teachers always marvelled whenever my Cutie brings home-baked cakes for her snacks to school and also wonder how I could afford the time to bake with 2 little ones to take care of, alone].

Then it crosses my mind that I could bake some for the kids too (hee... cos' every month I will buy some titbits for my Cutie to bring to school and give to the classmates).

For the kids, I do not want to have a layer of frosting on the cupcakes (cos' I dun want them to eat too much of the sweet stuff, even though I have reduced the sugar quantity in the recipe). So have been cracking my head and finally came up with the smiley face theme.

I find it rewarding to see the kids' happy face when they got a cupcake each and especially their eagerness to show it to their parents/caregivers once the door opened for dismissal. Of course, glad that the teachers love the cupcakes too. Guess what, my Cutie was so proud to tell her teachers, "I bake one" (referring to herself). Well, err... she did participate too.

In this contemporary society, it has become a norm for most people to simply buy (ie. just pay)instead of preparing the stuff (cos' less time-consuming). Even during our "pot luck" sessions with friends, the food are usually bought rather than prepared by ourselves. Hence, when one of the friends brought along the salad made by her during the last gathering at our house, I couldn't help promoting that dish to everyone. Guess I appreciated the effort that that friend had made and especially the sincerity that comes with it. Guess the teachers can feel mine too :) [especially now I'm alone with the kids at home and the washing to follow-up with after baking]. Still, mummy feel it's time well-spent.

Here's more of my design (made previously) to share.

2nd Visit to T3

Since the opening of new Terminal 3, this is the second time we went there. Daddy is leaving for Korea.

After Daddy entered the Departure Gate, Mummy and babies went to the viewing mall, but... quite sadly can't really see much (should have remembered the experience during 1st visit), can hardly see the planes or seeing the planes taking off, T2 is still the best.

Nonetheless, both my darlings still had great fun at the viewing mall - my Cutie was busy "talking" to her Daddy on the public phone while my Sweetie was enjoying walking and venturing around on her own.

Here's my Sweetie waving goodbye to her Daddy (at viewing mall). See her cute expression when she thought that her Jie Jie is going to chase after her.

Top of UOB Plaza

Had a family dinner at the Si Chuan Dou Hua Restuarant located on the 60th floor of UOB Plaza I. Thumbs up for the ambience, view, food and service provided.

In fact, Si Chuan Chinese restaurants are famous for their tea masters serving tea using kettle with long sprout. I read that the tea master has to go through years of intensive training in order to be able to manoeuvre the kettle without spilling a single drop and pouring tea with great precision and grace. Haha...but too bad my Cutie can't seem to appreciate and my Sweetie was sleepy then.

It was actually a farewell dinner for Daddy who is leaving for Korea, leaving Mummy and babies in Singapore.

Initially we have intended to leave as a family, but ...

Well, there are various factors to consider, the main was language issue. Then when we left for States, I'm actually a little apprehensive. Now, to go to a non-English speaking country and with 2 kids (not 1) is no joke. Don't know can survive or cope with 2 kids in a foreign and language barrier country. Furthermore, my Cutie has settled well in her playgroup and she's there barely 5 months. There's also vaccinations for Sweetie, milk powder for Sweetie etc etc to consider. Will see how things go first.
Well, 1 thing for sure... Mummy can definitely cope well in Singapore on her own. Yeah, super mum :)

As it was Daddy's birthday next month, we also have an advanced birthday celebration for him - that's the part that my Cutie and Sweetie enjoyed most, ie. having lighted candles and blowing out and of course, yummy cake to eat.

It was an enjoyable dinner.

2 years old Cutie (Part 4)

When my Cutie told me she got a sling, mummy was wondering what sling is she talking about and finally understood when I turned to look at her. Haha... that was actually the blanket.

It wasn't that mummy does not know what is a sling, but it was almost donkey months since we last seen it, ie. when the domestic helper was still around (Dec 2007) cos' mummy doesn't like to use it (to carry baby). Since then, mummy has never mentioned anything about the sling and now out of the blue, this Cutie told me she has a sling??? She can even remember what it was called after such a long time (she was only 21 months old when the maid left). Wow.

Indeed this Cutie does have great memory which even mummy has to rely on... gee... on numerous occasions due to my failing memory.

Well, here's what she drew that night. She has always asked me to help her to draw mummy, daddy, meimei or even herself on her "nintendo" (yes, she called that of her Fisher-price Pixter multi-media cos' mummy has a nintendo DS). Mummy often drew smiley faces for her. Really surprised she has tried to draw it herself too. Not bad drawing, uh?

Sweetie's Driving Spree

Here...

presenting to you...

the world youngest driver...

at age 13 months...

Haha... actually all she did was just step on the motorised toy car's pedal and it will move forward/backward. However, mummy is still very happy with this little achievement of hers.

Now it's this Sweetie's turn to fill mummy's life with surprises. Yesterday, she actually peed on the potty. She kept on pat pat her backside (her sign language for pee/poo to me), signalling to me. Mummy was just putting her on the potty for fun and hence was surprised to find a puddle of water in the potty.

Time flies, now my Sweetie has upgraded to being a toddler. Life's easier for mummy as she can walk (quite steady) on her own now. The best is she is now using the same type of milk powder as my Cutie now, ie. for 1 year & above. But... oh my, the tin of 900g can be finished within less than a week, really glad that there's the 1.8kg available.

Here's some pics of hers to share (see how mischievous she can be during photo-taking... just doesn't want to look at camera... sweetie).

Celebrating NDP 2008

On the eve of Singapore's National Day, brought my Sweetie to fetch her Jie Jie. As usual, she will give her Jie Jie a kiss and hug. After that, we proceeded to Ikea Tampines.

See what great fun they fun and yes, my Sweetie can walk really well by now.

Subsequently, we had dinner at the Fish & Co. It's one of my Cutie's favourite restaurants, gee... cos' of the fish coaster and "fishy" ambience. She was so happy that she was singing the ABC song non-stop.
