Museum and Movie Night

Today, there was a movie night screening by the People's Association outside the Asean Civilisation Museum and offered a free entry for all to the museum.  The idea of watching the show "Despicable Me" under the starry night and going to the museum did sound nice, so off we went.  The museum has also organised some activities specially for kids and my darlings enjoyed making their own masks.

It was a unique experience for all of us to watch a movie in the open.  The weather was great too.  What an enjoyable night.

Monkeys see, Monkeys Do

Can you guess what's this?

Mummy got a shock when my darlings told me that they had caught a "lizard".

Haha... luckily it was just a sticker.  Mummy is amused by the way they caught the lizard... mmm... that was exactly the method I used when I saw a lizard the other day.  I had also put a weight on top of the plastic container, so that the lizard will not be able to escape.  Mummy is amazed that they had even noticed that.  Great observation skills, haha... nothing could escape their eyes,  Oops, Mummy had better be careful with my actions in future.

Fruitty Kebab

We had so much fruits to clear from the fruit hampers given to Daddy, so Mummy decided to make a fruit kebab out of the fruits.  My darlings had a wonderful time and love the fruit kebab that they made themselves.   See how they love it.  Yummy, yummy.

Daddy's hospitalisation

It has been a busy month with Daddy admitted twice in hospital.  It does worry mummy a lot (haha... altho' I don't show it).  Luckily, it turned out fine for Daddy.
For my darlings, they seemed to be having a lot of fun staying at the hospital to keep their daddy accompany.

Want to give thanks to friends who have made the effort to visit him in the hospital despite your busy schedule.

During one of our trips back, Mummy decided to dropby the MacDonald Ridout Tea Garden for our lunch.  It was a lovely place with sweet memories.  To my darlings, they were more fascinated with the great numbers of turtles in the pond area, that they cannot keep their eyes away from the pond.  We managed to get a seat overseeing the pond and looking at the turtles do seem to have some therapeutic effect on Mummy.  What a busy month and glad that everyone is well.

Chinese Idioms (成语接龙)

My Cutie learned this during the last year school holidays workshop and she can still remember.  She was recently into the soldier's stuff, so do look out for her salute at the end of the video.

三思而行 行之有效 笑逐颜开 开卷有益 意在笔先 先睹为快

快马加鞭 鞭长莫及 急中生智 智勇双全 全力以赴 赴汤蹈火
My Sweetie was somehow being influenced by her and has learnt to memorise the first half of the above too.

Happy 5th Birthday, Cutie

How time flies, my Cutie is now 5 years old.  Now she's quite independent and can do a lot of things on her own without Mummy's help.

Yesterday, we had a busy day baking some heart-shaped cookies to give to her classmates and teachers.  Today, Mummy brought them to the Kidz Explorer where both of them had so much fun playing the whole day.

Daddy can only join us for dinner.  At Downtown East, we were attracted by the decor of this restaurant and so decided to have our dinner there.  After that, we went home for another round of celebrations with the cake that we had bought for my Cutie.

Over the weekend, we bought another cake  to Yeye's house to celebrate her birthday with him.  As it was quite a last minute decision, we just headed to a bakery shop nearby for the cake.

My Cutie is now learning about the value of money and Mummy has taught her before on spending our money wisely.  The design that she had chosen has 3 different sizes and to Mummy's surprise, this darling chose the smallest size after looking at the price tag.  She told me that she doesn't want Mummy to waste money, hahah...  Without hesitation, Mummy just told the staff to pack the biggest size one for us.

Now at 5, she is already a fluent reader and we had earlier gotten her a book "What You Need to Know Now" which she has chosen herself.  It is a hard cover book that costs over $40 and contains interesting facts and figures about issues on the world.  When the earthquake struck Japan in March, she showed me her book and shared with me that earthquakes are caused by the tectonic plates as mentioned in the book.  Gee... shouldn't it the other way round with Mummy teaching her instead?   Here's a video of her reading a page of the book for you.

In fact, she had impressed Mummy many a times sharing with me what she had read from her books. For example, the other day she told me that there's a summit in the middle of the Antartica in her encyclopedia book.  Another time, she told me that we should actually not drink water before eating (which she read from her ”十万个为什么“ book.  Oh no, Mummy has previously thought that drinking some water before meals is good.

She has  no problem understanding whatever that she read.  Even her English enrichment teacher was also very impressed with her comprehension abilities even though she was only 4 years old among the rest of 5-7 years old kids.  Mummy was initially worried and had even suggested to her teacher to go slow on her.  Rather, this darling has often surprised Mummy with her independent learning.  Every week, she was able to score full marks for her spellings although Mummy has only gone through it once in less than 5 minutes.

Her thirst for knowledge far surpasses the energy that Mummy has to spare.  Mummy is glad that she can depend on the books to satisfy her desire to learn.

Condominium and Beach

We have recently bought a condominium (and most likely we will keep our current house too).  As it is near the beach, we decided to go to the beach with the kids.  My darlings were very excited as they have always wanted to go to beaches.  As the trip was really impromptu, we were not geared for beach activities.  Nevertheless, my darlings do have a wonderful time playing on the sand with their daddy while Mummy played with the Ipad while watching over our stuff.

Punggol Promenade

Today, we went to the Punggol Promenade for dinner and a short walk.  There wasn't much choice for dinner, so we went to Popeyes for dinner.  Memories of our time spent at the same Popeyes in Korea just kept on surfacing.  So it wasn't too bad idea to have fastfood for dinner.

After that, we went for a walk along the riverside and to our amazement, we walked all the way to the Lorong Halus Wetland Park.  Thus it was quite late by the time we walked back to where we had started, haha...  Along the way, we had also taught our darlings a marching song which has been a great help to encourage them to walk such long distance.  It was fun walking together as a family.
