Cutie's first attempt at composition writing

Today finally got back the book for the previous term from her English Enrichment teacher.

Mummy was very impressed with my Cutie's first composition attempt on their last lesson in July. From what I knew, the teacher only a little guidance at the beginning with the plot, characters and the helping words, then the students are then to complete the composition on their own without any further help (on spelling, sentence formation etc) from the teacher.  Oh my, my Cutie has never learnt about composition writing before!

Though it was her first attempt, Mummy can see that it was quite a well-written piece. Although there maybe some grammatical or spelling errors, it was really a great writeout for a 5-year old child, especially it, being her 1st in composition.writing.  Her classmate's mother was also very impressed with my Cutie, as her daughter who is 7 years old has only written about half of what my Cutie has written (truly no offence here to the classmate and mother).

This Cutie just can't seem to give Mummy's surprises here and then, with her language ability.  Once during a sit-in session, the teacher went through the sight words which the students are supposed to practise at home.  But oh dear, Mummy has forgotten about it and when it was my darling's turn, this little Cutie did not have any problem with all the sight words.  Mummy felt so relief that this Cutie is smart and thus able to cover up the truth of what a lazy Mummy I have been.  Shh... don't leak out this secret of me..

Cutie, keep up your good work!  (Gee... in fact, this little darling has been an ardent reader of my blog ever since she is able to read at the age of 3.)

Handy Lunch

What could be better than another round of handy lunch.

See how creative both of them are.  The sausages which used to represent the rosy cheeks, are now the hands and legs of the bread.

This time round, mummy added some button mushrooms which were very popular with my darlings.  My Cutie used the button mushrooms as the rosy cheeks and haha... a hairclip (in the photo below, the broccoli has also become her hairclip).  My Sweetie used them as the eyes.

Glad that they love their lunch and can even have fun with it.  Watch the video to join in their fun..

Singapore Philatelic Museum and Peranankan Museum

Today, we went for a briefing on our tour.  Then we visited the Singapore Philatelic Museum which is nearby.  It is free admission to all Museums in the month of August in celebration of Singapore's birthday.

My darlings have a fun time exploring the things they see at the museum.  The old scooter driven by the postman, the mama shop, old coffee shop etc  brought back much nostalgic memories for Daddy and Mummy.

Of course, all these are unfamilar to both my darlings.  Nevertheless, they have  an enjoyable time brewing "coffee" and walking around with the clogs.
They also enjoyed seeing the different types of stamps with designs that reflect the times of different era.  There were so many things to explore that we would have stayed longer in here, but we had to make a dash before the Peranankan Musuem nearby closed for the day.

My darlings may not have learnt much about the Peranankan culture, but it is a good opportunity for them to see what the Peranankans use and wear in their daily lives.

Mummy would love to visit other museums too, but doubt we will be able to make any more visit in August as Mummy will be busy packing our stuff for our tour.  Nevertheless, it's great visiting these 2 museums today.

Growing Pains

Mummy was very worried when my Cutie told me that her right hand cannot hold her toothbrush for long.  Mummy recalled that sometimes she will say that her legs hurt after walking a while and recently, she says her right hand doesn't have the strength to carry her bag.  The other day, she has also dropped things a few times while at the supermarket.
So went to see the doctor when during her appointment for the second flu jab.  However, this doctor gave Mummy a bigger scare, saying to bring her to KK Children A&E immediately and may require an MRI.  This really sounds serious.

So we had our lunch first before going home to change (as it can be quite cold in the hospital) before getting a cab to the hospital.  Throughout the time, Mummy was really worried but could not call Daddy as he was having an exam in the afternoon.  At times, Mummy wanted to cry out loud, thinking that she's just only 5 years old and thinking about the worst scenarios that I've read online.

Really have to thank the doctors at the hospital.  Their initial assessment was nothing serious as compared to that assessed by the doctor at the clinic.  However, just to be on the safe side, my Cutie underwent an x-ray of her hand as well as a blood test.  So our whole day was spent at the hospital and we had our dinner too while waiting for the blood test results.  After that, brought them to the playground.  Haha... see how much my darlings have grown, the playground seems to be too small for them now.
Mummy was relief that the blood test result shows that everything is fine.  The doctors diagnosed that this little Cutie is, in fact, experiencing some growing pains which are felt more in some children.

Mummy is glad that my Cutie is fine.  What a scare!  We can now look forward to our tour in September.

First Visit to the Dentist

Brought my darlings to the Colgate Roadshow for a checkup to give them exposure in visiting a dentist.  It was really lucky that we went as the dentist found a cavity in my Cutie's tooth.  So managed to make an appointment at this dental clinic at City Square Mall.  We were "wowed" by the kids' dental room that this branch has for children.  My Cutie was very brave to have the hole fixed up by the dentist.

However, my Sweetie who refused a checkup previously, was on the verge of tears to have her teeth checked.  After much coaxing, the dentist managed to get her to open her mouth for a quick look while sitting.  Don't think the dentist was able to check much, but at least guess this will reduce her fear of going for a dental checkup next time.

The dentist gave them some stickers, but he was surprised that they were not really interested in them.  Haha... bet he didn't know that they have often been rewarded with much more beautiful type of stickers by their teachers that stickers were not special to them anymore.  But Mummy didn't tell him that.  Hee...

Glad that my Cutie has her tooth fixed up and taking this opportunity to thank the dentist for his patience with my little Sweetie.

Post NDP

Wow, how time flies.  National Day is finally over.  However, it doesn't seem to end there.  There was the replay of the NDP on television today.  While watching the show midway, my Sweetie tells mummy "No more fireworks please".  Haha... guess she is getting bored of watching the fireworks so many times.

Got my darlings to do some artwork about the National Day with some NDP-related materials.  Mummy expects them to just cut out the whole chunk of the words in blue, instead they paintstakingly cut out each letter one by one.  Guess they really enjoy cutting with their scissors.

Mummy love the way they expresses their love for each other.  The smiles on their faces just simply warm mummy's heart.  Really thank God for them.

NDP @ Marina Bay Sand Event Hall

Today is National Day.  Daddy got the tickets to the celebrations at Marina Bay Sand Event Hall.  Everyone was glad that he could join us for the celebrations.

This is the third time that we had watched the National Day Parade celebrations for this year.  But again, the experience is unique and different from the rest.

Having experience twice with the security checks (earlier and the other time at the Floating Platform), my darlings decide to conduct their own security screenings too.  They would place their LED light over us and our belongings, follow by a "beep" sound which they made to signify we were "cleared".  Hee...
It was a nice experience watching the flypasts and fireworks on this side of Marina.  We finally got the opportunity to visit Marina Bay Sand and stand below its magnificent building which often captures our attention.
When home, Mummy was surprised to hear my darlings singing the NDP 2011 theme song "In a heartbeat".  Guess they have heard so much of the song that they are starting to love it.  Mummy is glad that today is the final NDP cos' we are dead tired after attending so many NDP events.  Hee...
